After months of planning, collaboration, and behind-the-scenes work, the inaugural Teachers' Lounge Makeover reached its exciting final phase with the reveal of a fully refreshed space at Suburban Park Elementary School in Norfolk.
When teachers and staff returned from Spring Break, they were welcomed back to a transformed lounge designed with one goal in mind: to give educators a place to relax, recharge, and feel appreciated for the incredible work they do every day.
From Planning to Transformation
The Virginia Lottery, along with partners The Supply Room and Brightstar Lottery, worked together to thoughtfully plan every detail of the makeover. During Spring Break, the transformation came to life with fresh paint applied by Virginia Lottery and The Supply Room employees, comfortable new furniture, and modern appliances—including a brand-new refrigerator generously purchased by Brightstar Lottery.
The result is a welcoming, functional space created specifically for the teachers and staff who support students throughout the school year.
Celebrating Educators Across Virginia
Suburban Park Elementary was randomly selected from a large pool of eligible entries representing approximately 75% of Virginia’s K-12 public schools. During the nomination period, teachers, staff, parents, and community members across the Commonwealth submitted entries to help celebrate the educators who make a lasting difference in students' lives.
The lounge refresh-valued at $7,500-is just one way the Virginia Lottery and its partners say thank you to educators who pour their time, energy, and heart into serving their school communities.
